You can also make your own crab cakes at home with this recipe:
Ingredients:
- 1 pound fresh lump crab meat, picked over for shells
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 1/4 cup finely chopped green onions (scallions)
- 2 tablespoons finely chopped fresh parsley
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1 large egg, lightly beaten
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning (adjust to taste)
- 1/2 teaspoon lemon zest
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons butter, for frying
- Lemon wedges, for serving
- Tartar sauce or remoulade sauce, for serving (optional)
Instructions:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the breadcrumbs, mayonnaise, green onions, parsley, Dijon mustard, egg, Worcestershire sauce, Old Bay seasoning, lemon zest, salt, and pepper. Stir until well combined.
- Gently fold in the lump crab meat, being careful not to break up the crab too much. Mix until the ingredients are evenly distributed.
- Shape the mixture into crab cakes of your desired size. For an appetizer portion, aim for smaller cakes; for a main course, larger cakes are suitable.
- Heat butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Once the butter has melted and the skillet is hot, carefully place the crab cakes in the pan. Cook until golden brown and crispy, approximately 3-4 minutes per side.
- Remove the crab cakes from the skillet and transfer them to a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess grease.
- Serve the crab cakes hot with lemon wedges on the side. You can also accompany them with tartar sauce or remoulade sauce for added flavor, if desired.
These crab cakes are best enjoyed fresh and hot. They make a delightful appetizer or main course, paired with a side salad or your favorite seafood accompaniments. Bon appétit!
